TESTIMONY I accidentally killed my girlfriend by giving her perfume
Charlie Rowley, from Amesbury in the south of England, lost his soul mate Dawn Sturgess after giving her a perfume found in a rubbish bin.
Charlie Rowley admits it himself: he was finally beginning to be happy when his life turned to horror. Quarantine accidentally killed his girlfriend Dawn Sturgess by giving her a perfume found in a trash can. “Dawn and I had been together for 18 months when she passed away. We met when she was living in social housing for homeless people. She was a mother of three and was rebuilding her life. I was in a similar situation so we supported each other. We liked the same music (…) She was a real hippie, she was kind and witty. Generous and caring. We just got along well. She was Dawny, my soul mate” he confided in a rare interview with OKAY! Magazine.
To furnish his own apartment in Amesbury, Charlie collected furniture thrown away by private individuals. He also liked to bring back presents for his darling Dawn. One day, he found a perfume, a gift he immediately offered to his better half. After splashing it on her wrists, the woman fainted, “foam coming out of his mouth”. Same observation for Charlie who has become paranoid and aggressive. Fortunately, their friend Sam Hobson quickly called an ambulance. “I started acting weird. I attacked Sam. I held him by the neck trying to strangle him” he confessed. Waking up in Salisbury hospital in July 2018, Charlie was told he had been exposed to a chemical substance.
A toxic smell
But what happened? Charlie and Dawn were infected with Novichok, a nerve agent of Soviet origin. To understand how this could have happened, it is necessary to know that four months earlier, the former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were victims of an attempted poisoning in Salisbury, with this same neurotoxic poison. An attack attributed by London to Moscow, which has always been denied as a whole. At the time, a major chemical clean-up had been carried out and yet, eight days after her hospitalization, Dawn died. She was 44 years old. As for Charlie, he miraculously pulled through after three weeks of hospitalization. A disappearance of which he still feels guilty. The family of his companion, however, understood that it was a sad accident and continues to maintain good relations with him.
