Perfume ideas for all occasions
If there’s one thing (or 20) I couldn’t let go of even moving into my dorm, it would be my perfume bottles. Scents are something I find really important because the variety of scents helps me manage my mood, intentions, and vibes for the day. My favorite part of the morning is choosing from the delicious range of scents to find the perfect one. I like to call myself both a perfume collector and a connoisseur.
Without further ado, here are some of my fragrance recommendations to match whatever occasion you find yourself in.
Carpe diem in style!
Chloe Eau de Parfum
The Chloé by Chloé Eau de Parfum roller was my first perfume purchase, and for a long time I couldn’t find anything better. Me, at 13, I had better taste than I remembered! It’s both mysterious and melancholy, but also beautifully fresh and floral. If a lucky charm was a perfume, this would be it.
The Pink Lab 31
This rosehip is my study scent, something I put on when I have to study properly. It’s kind of a pretty spicy rose but the intensity is a delicious reminder to keep going. If I had to compare this with a location on campus, it would be the classic, antique vibe of the Morrison Library.
Fragonard Beau de Provence
Fragonard’s Beau de Provence is a milky and sweet duo of fig and bergamot. Think a creamy fig milkshake sprinkled with mountains of powdered sugar. A classy shade of purple but better. I’m personally addicted to the hand cream version of the perfume, which actually exploded once in my bag during a robbery. I distinctly remember smelling the fig for a whole month afterwards. But I still haven’t had enough.
Perfect by Marc Jacobs
It’s been my favorite for almost a year now, and trust me, that says a lot. This is the only perfume I’ve bought blind at an airport (mainly because of the beauty of the bottle), but it couldn’t have worked more perfectly! It’s simple, floral, light and delicious. You might think it’s reminiscent of a lot of other perfumes in a department store, but I still haven’t been able to find anything quite like it. It’s my go-to scent for whenever I need something perfect. So all day, every day.
It’s a pretty unique scent that refuses to be pinned down in any specific category, and I guess that’s only fair because it’s supposed to smell like you! The fragrance is slightly different for everyone but is nonetheless chic and comfortable. I was offered the solid version and I find the small pink circular container more than adorable. Honestly, I feel like I have a mini pet in my purse at all times. I think if a good first impression was a perfume, this would be it.
MFK Baccarat Red 540
It’s funny. Last summer, my brother and I went to a perfumery and were able to smell, without exaggeration, 500 different scents. And while I ended up liking a multitude of them, my brother, out of the 500, only liked one: Baccarat Rouge 540. And honestly, I get it. The scent is hard to describe because of all of its contrasting notes, but it manages to stay fun and delicious. I remember a magical circus full of decadent surprises.
