Mum who had a ‘bad week’ overwhelmed by the friendliness of a stranger in a fish and chip shop
A mum was left speechless after a kind-hearted stranger made a gesture of goodwill that restored her faith in humanity. The mother had had a “bad week” and decided to meet her cousin and their children to eat and visit the park.
The mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, visited the Haydock Plie chip shop in St Helens, Merseyside. The family ordered their food and then sat outside to wait for it to be prepared.
But when she went back inside to pay, the chippy staff told her that someone had already paid for the food in full and left. With the mother unable to thank the kind woman in person, she took to Facebook to try and find her, reports the Liverpool Echo.
In a message, she said: “Just want to put a thank you note here and hope it reaches the lovely lady. My cousin and I were just chippy in Haydock Plaice on Sherlock Ave with the kids in the strollers.
“We ordered our own and the kids meals and waited outside. A lady came out, looked at my son in the pram only spoke to us for a second, we went back to the chippy to get the food once it was done and pay.
“The fryer told us she had paid for our food. By the time we came to pay for the food, she had been gone for a while, so we couldn’t say thank you or anything.
“So if you’re reading this we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We haven’t had the best of weeks and we’re feeling down, we met today to take the kids to the park for an hour so we’ve both been doing more than just sitting at home rehashing the bad times.
“And being told that a random nice lady paid for our food honestly made our whole week. It made us smile and restored our faith in humanity. Such a kind soul”
