KCMO man charged in fatal park shooting
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Jackson County District Attorney’s Office has charged Timothy Green, 59, in the fatal shooting that claimed the life of Leslie Taylor in Blue Hills Park Thursday night.
Green faces charges of second degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and felony armed action.
According to court records filed Saturday, Kansas City police were dispatched to the area of 53rd and Brooklyn Avenue in Blue Hills Park for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, police found the victim dead from a gunshot wound.
Witnesses told police they saw the suspect shoot the victim, according to the file. A witness said he heard Green and Taylor arguing over money before Green shot Taylor.
Court documents say police observed apparent blood on Green’s shirt, shorts and shoes upon arriving at his address. Police said Green was arrested at 7:07 p.m., but no weapon was found on him at that time.
A witness told police that Green was labeled as “the neighborhood bully” and brandished his gun in an attempt to intimidate those he argued with.
Green is a convicted felon of theft, manslaughter, felony with a weapon, assault, and drunk driving.
Prosecutors have asked for $250,000 bond for Green.
