I’m obsessed with a 99p Aldi cleaner that ‘smells like Marc Jacobs perfume’ – Bethan Shufflebotham
Anyone on CleanTok who likes Mrs. Hinch or just can’t stay out of the Aldi SpecialBuys aisle will have heard of the Fabulosa cleaning brand.
Now stocked in a range of stores from B&M to Tesco, one of their products in particular is causing a stir online after being compared to a popular perfume brand.
At the beginning of the month, Aldi left shoppers in stitches by joking they ‘can’t have another lawsuit’ when a shopper compared the product – found in their middle aisle – to Marc Jacobs.

The buyer said: “I can’t, I repeat, I can’t get over the smell of the one on the left (they both smell lush). The whole kitchen now smells like Marc Jacobs Decadence and that’s all I needed to get cleaner.
Referring to the real name of the Fabulosa sanitizer scent, Aldi replied: “I think you mean it smells like sheer opulence? (please Kayleigh, we can’t have another lawsuit).
The fragrance was also shared by TikToker @charleybourne who encouraged shoppers to “run, don’t walk to Aldi” to buy a bottle of the beautifully scented sanitizer.
For the past couple of weeks I’ve had a hard time finding the product in stores as it’s clearly a popular item. But I finally managed to get my hands on it to see if it really smells like a Marc Jacobs perfume.
Fabulosa was launched in March 2019 thanks to household cleaning products manufacturer, Active Brand Concepts.
The Cheshire-based brand says BusinessLive that their slogan is “That Fabulous Feeling”, “because it can match your senses and your memories. It’s more than just a cleaning product, it’s how it feels.

I pitted Aldi’s £5.99 mascara against the Too Faced dupe – but one clumped my lashes
It’s a large sized bottle for 99p, with 500ml of product. The multi-purpose spray does not need to be diluted and is claimed to kill 99.9% of bacteria and can be used anywhere in the home.
Its fragrance description reads: “An oriental floral with top notes of bergamot, ripe plum and iris, a heart of rose, jasmine, ylang and iris and a base rich in powder of amber, patchouli, vetiver, wood, musk and vanilla.”
And comparing it to Decadence by Marc Jacobs, both mention plum and iris, as well as rose, jasmine, iris and amber.
The scent brand also references saffron, vetiver and papyrus woods – but it’s safe to say the notes are all similar scents, so it’s easy to see why they smell so similar.

I wore an Aldi unisex aftershave and it smelled ‘like’ £120 Tom Ford perfume
Woody and floral, the sanitizer spray really smells like luxury Marc Jacobs perfume, and all of my weekend guests commented on how great the house smelled.
If, like me, you’ve had trouble getting a bottle at Aldi, Amazon is currently stocking one. six-pack for £5.99 with free Prime delivery.
The price of the product seems really affordable and I will definitely keep an eye out for other fragrances from the Fabulosa range. I’m obsessed with spraying it all over my house.
