A new flavor from the Idaho Potato Commission—yes, you read that right—claims to bring out the aroma of french fries in all their oily, salty glory.
“Whether you’re driving to a restaurant or dining out, it’s nearly impossible not to grab a fry and grab a bite before diving into your meal,” said Jamey Higham, president and CEO of the Idaho Potato Commission, in a statement. . “The smell is too good to resist.”
Double Fries by Idaho, the “limited edition perfume” was $1.89 per 1.7 oz bottle on the commission’s website before it sold out. A giveaway promising more tater spray bottles ends on Sunday.
The scent, which the commission says captures “one of the most irresistible scents in the world,” is made from distilled Idaho potatoes and essential oils.
The commission cited a recent national survey by the Pollfish Company which found that nearly 90% of Americans “find the smell of french fries irresistible.”
The Idaho commission has additional potato products available for potato junkies, including a French fry rack, Idaho potato playing cards, a potato transport truck miniature earth and a 3 foot tall “Spuddy Buddy”.
