I missed out on a massive £3.6million EuroMillions jackpot after swapping my regular lotto numbers for just a week
A MUM-OF-FOUR has missed out on £3.6million after changing her lottery numbers for just one week.
Unlucky Lorna Hart blames herself for making the decision to swap her usual EuroMillions numbers – 3, 25, 27, 28 and 29 – for the HotPicks ticket, which randomly selects the main game numbers.
Her heart sank when she went online to check the winning numbers yesterday morning, realizing she would have won a life-changing sum had she not made the change.
And after timing how close she was to making big money, the 45-year-old said she was ‘pretty disgusted’
The unfortunate lottery loser said: “I would have gotten £3.6million but I put those numbers on the other game.
“3, 25, 27, 28 and 29 came out in the EuroMillions, but I used the EuroMillions lucky shot.
“I choose these numbers every week because they are important – one is the day I met my current partner, one is my daughter’s birthday, another is the day I fell in love with my partner. “
The single mother, who suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome, has played EuroMillions every week since it started and dreams of winning and buying her own house.
She added: “I feel a little deflated. I’m disabled, I have ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis) so it would have made a big difference in my life.
“I had to give up work about eight years ago, it was a life crisis. I went through quite a difficult time.
“That kind of money would have meant a lot and given me that security – it’s pretty hard to be on benefits.
“I would have bought my own house, because I am currently a tenant.
“My daughter has just finished university, so I would have found a place for her to live – it’s really difficult at the moment.”
But despite the disappointment, Lorna said she was still able to laugh at her misfortune.
And she will go out with her friends to laugh about it – but for “a cake instead of Champagne”.
“At least I have family and friends. That’s what’s really important,” she said.
Last night’s winning numbers were 3, 25, 27, 28, 29, with Lucky Stars 4 and 9.
This means that Lorna would have matched all five regular numbers had she stayed with them for this week’s draw.
Instead, one lucky player walked away with £184million – the biggest prize in Britain’s National Lottery – making them richer than Adele.
