Elon Musk’s latest Internet joke took the form of an unsavory smelling perfume: “Burnt Hair”.
The tech mogul, entrepreneur and sometimes internet troll announced the product launch on Twitter Tuesday, calling it “the best perfume on Earth.” The fragrance is apparently being sold on The Boring Company’s website for $100 and will ship in Q1 2023.
Musk first joked about a perfume that would have the enticing aroma of burnt hair in September on Twitter.
But now The Boring Company – a Musk company that started as a joke on Twitter on traffic – actually seems to be selling the perfume. The product is the successor to other Musk memes, like the $500 flamethrowers he sold in 2018 or the Tesla-branded satin shorts he debuted when investors ‘shorted’ the company in 2020.
Because the scents won’t ship until January, there’s no review yet to say whether the product really smells like “leaning over a candle at the table, but without all the hard work,” as the review describes. society.
In the meantime, Musk seems to be enjoying the media attention on his new lark. He changed his Twitter bio to “Perfume Salesman” and claims to have sold 20,000 bottles.
And he referenced his ongoing and embattled negotiations to buy Twitter itself – a $44 billion acquisition.
“Please buy my perfume, so I can buy Twitter,” he wrote on Wednesday.
The social media platform said in a court filing on Thursday that federal authorities are investigating Musk in connection with the acquisition.
It’s unclear which agencies may be leading the investigation, and Twitter has not identified the specific actions of Musk’s US officials who may be investigating. Twitter’s filing simply says authorities are looking into Musk’s “conduct” related to the deal.
